Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does a Mini Biggar Hounds Adventure work?

Kirsten or Ross will come to your home and transport your dog in our lovely van. We go to fabulous exciting locations where the dogs can play and have fun. The walk starts on lead and those suitable can be let off the lead. We play with the dogs and mentally stimulate them through various games. At the end of the walk it may be necessary to wash your dog using our portable shower and give them a towel dry and take them back to your house. We can leave your dog wherever you like and ensure that they have fresh water. The walk lasts one hour and pick up and drop off being extra time.

2. How do you transport my dog?

We have a van with custom built cages fitted by Vic Air in Larkhall  Each crate has a lockable compression lock, escape hatches and comfortable soft vet bedding and a water bowl for your dog's comfort.

3. How many dogs do you take on a Mini Biggar Hounds Adventure?

The maximum number of dogs we walk is 6 dogs at once.

4. Do you have a Canine First Aid Qualification?

Canine First Aid is very important to us. Ross and I have completed an online Canine First Aid and Wellbeing Course by Rachel Bean RVN MCFBA Canine Behaviourist . We have also completed in person, the Emergency Canine First Aid Training with Rhodes 2 Safety – Canine First Aid Training.

5. How do I know that I can trust you?

It is vital that you trust your dog walker as we are looking after your beloved dog and have the keys to your home.  We are insured through Cliverton and we hold a Boarding License issued by South Lanarkshire Council. This means that we have been inspected and are compliant with legal requirements. We hold a Basic Disclosure and have completed a Canine First Aid and Wellbeing course.

6. What are the requirements and rules?

We do have requirements and rules! All dogs need to go through a 'Meet and Greet', 'Play Session', and have a one to one walk before any group walks. We do not take aggressive dogs and if we do see signs of this we will no longer be able to walk or board your dog. This is for our safety, other dogs safety as well as the wider publics safety.

7. Where do you walk?

All walks will take place in nature within South Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders. We do not disclose the exact locations on the internet for safety reasons but we can assure you that your dog will go to a variety of interesting places away from roads and livestock. Owners will be kept up to date with photos and videos on where we walk their dogs.

The next stage

By now we hope that you have had a good read of the website and have most of your questions already answered. The next step is a complimentary 'Meet and Greet' at your home where we meet you and your dog and have a chat about the best services. We can also find out about your dog and we will ask you to fill in a comprehensive form with questions around your emergency contact, vet details and get a bit of history on your dog. The next stage is the 'Play Session' and one of us will collect you dog at your house and will get the chance to travel in our car . We go to our house for about an hour to have a bonding session with the dog and play together. If that goes well the next session is a paid one to one walk and we go for a nice walk on lead and it gives us a chance to see how your dog reacts to different situations such as traffic noise, other dogs, wildlife and so forth. If that goes well, then your dog can join the Biggar Hounds Family and get to know the other dogs.
